MB Aerospace lands RR contract

MB AEROSPACE LANDS ROLLS-ROYCE CONTRACT WORTH UP TO 25M GBP INCLUDING OPTIONS

The Aerospace division of MB Engineering Solutions has won a  contract worth upto  25 million GBP including options to supply Rolls-Royce plc with aftermarket  engine ring components for gas turbine engines.

The five-year deal will see MB Aerospace manufacture the rings for civil, defence, marine and energy engines to be used in aircraft including Harrier, Hawk and Boeing 747-400.

The significant contract will be undertaken and managed between the company's in-house manufacturing plant in Motherwell and its Burnley facility, where similar integration activities are provided on the defence launch systems for US defence contractors.

Craig Gallagher, Managing Director of MB Aerospace said: "We are absolutely delighted to win a contract of this size and duration against such stiff competition.  This is a major growing area of aftermarket services and this award serves as a major vote of confidence in the expertise we have available.

"The contract complements the activities we have ongoing at each of our UK sites and follows the award of a long-term contract from Rolls-Royce in 2003 for the provision of components for engine build applications.

"A key element of the deal is the manufacturing skills and product knowledge of our Motherwell site, which are market leading in their field, combined with the supply chain and integration management skills of the Burnley plant".

MB Aerospace announced at the Farnborough Airshow in July new business wins worth in excess of £6m including a deal to provide a North American defence extractor with a vast supply of missile launch systems.

Mr Gallagher added: "In addition to the contracts we have ongoing, this latest Rolls-Royce deal further enhances our order book over the next three to five years.  It also enables us to build a firm platform to take the company to the next level following the turbulent market conditions experienced in the wake of 9/11".

MB Aerospace Ltd is a subsidiary of MB Engineering Solutions Ltd and has two Uk sites based at Motherwell and Burnley.  The company employs over 100 personnel specialising in the manufacture, test, and assembly of defence and commercial aerospace systems and components.
